Yes, I have the list and know who has signed up. But I think it would be nice for those who has signed up to leave a comment here and identify yourself for those attending and those thinking of attending. If you prefer not to, that’s fine.
So I’ll start with myself. My name is Alvin Borromeo and I’m registered as a Legal person. But I’ve got some ideas that I’m working on to pitch. I’d also like to contribute on the business end of whatever project I end up working on.
I’m on Twitter, Pownce and Brightkite as Wyliemac. Although I primarily use Twitter (when it’s working). Feel free to follow me and ask any questions you might have about Startup Weekend Columbus.
Now it’s your turn.

4 Jeff Benzenberg // May 27, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Greetings. My name is Jeff, I’m signed up as a designer. I currently work at eRetailing in Dublin, and I will be attending with one of my co-workers, Brian (I’ll let him talk about himself).
We sell custom apparel online, our biggest store is http://www.CustomizedGirl.com. Currently, we are completely redoing our checkout process to optimize conversion, which is pretty exciting.
I do the web design, PPC, and other online advertising for eRetailing.
A few years ago I started my first website http://www.FollowFunction.com, an online store for Modern Design.
As the saying goes, there are always more ideas than time or money to work on them. I’d love to contribute to idea pool for potential business plans. Thanks.

Alvin, Thanks for getting this conversation started. I am Jody Dzuranin, a blogger from Columbus, but not sure I would call it a Columbus Blog. I post on the advances in Health information and Wellness. I have some posts pertaining to Columbus when it relates to my topic, like “Bike to Work Week” and the Scioto Mile. I am involved in local worksite wellness and physical activity initiatives.
I am very excited about experiencing the collaborative process of Startup weekend. I registered as a contributor from the PR and User Input aspect.
Now that the date and location are set, I look forward to helping generate the energy around our SU weekend. I think I will attend the Social Media Cafe tonight, although it means missing yoga class.

Alvin, I gotta ask…Really… U of M (your photo on twitter)? Oh well, I am sure glad we are all on the same team for Startup Weekend CMH!

Hi all! I’m Trisha Jackson. My official title is Ebusiness Director for AAA. Behind that is a lot of sales and marketing experience both online and offline. I’ve signed up for Business Development only because I didn’t know which group I belonged to.
I’ll just be getting back from New Orleans Friday night so I’m not sure that I can make it until Saturday morning. Hope that doesn’t put too much of a kink into things.

Nice job kicking off the intros Alvin! I also am helping with the organization of this event. I am participating a business development consultant to help turn the ideas into scalable and investable business models that can grow here in Central Ohio. This is part of my job at TechColumbus and also part of my passion.
Note that I am Not the author or “The Long Tale” although I do recommend reading the book before the event. Also suggest “Getting Real” http://gettingreal.37signals.com/
I anticipate that the relationships made during the event will be far more valuable than any single company that comes out of the weekend. It is just the start of greater things to come.

Hi all — I’m Bryce. I’m a user interface designer at Yahoo! (in the platforms group.) I’ve signed up as a ‘User Experience’ type. Just don’t ask me to code. Nobody wants that.
In addition to my day job, I’ve also been involved in Corkboard, an effort to bring a coworking space to Columbus ( http://corkboardcolumb.us/ ) For now, we’re operating on the nomadic model (squatting in cafes on Fridays) but we hope to have some exciting developments to report in the near future.

I didn’t really introduce myself in my brief earlier post, so figured I should provide more information now that I have seen some of the other responses. I am Mike Gray, developer/architect/manager/etc. I lived and work in Silicon Valley for 6 years working for startups like Netscape and AvantGo before coming back here to central Ohio in late 2001. I am now working as a developer/architect/manager for KACE, a company in California, but I mostly work out of my house in Dublin. As many of you know, when working in a startup, you do what needs to be done. I signed up as an architect, but will fill whatever needs are found during the Startup Weekend. I am on twitter as mikergray, http://twitter.com/mikergray. I have a LinkedIn profile: http://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelrgray. Most of my sites are listed on my newly created blog: http://codemgmt.blogspot.com/.
Looking forward to getting connected to the Columbus startup scene and comparing it to the Silicon Valley experiences I have had in the past.

I’ve never been a part of a startup, but I love to develop ideas that solve problems. I signed up for PR, because connecting people with information is what I do for a living, but I can learn anything.

Hi there! I’m the co-founder of Portfolio Creative Staffing–a staffing and recruiting firm that specializes in connecting clients and creative talent. We work with people like graphic designers, copywriters, web designers and developers, project managers…pretty much anything you’d find in a creative, marketing, or advertising firm or department.
Before starting Portfolio, I was a graphic designer and art director for several Limited Brands marketing departments for 13 years.
I think I finally settled on Project Manager when I signed up, but I can do a variety of things in the marketing/design/writing area as well…whatever is needed really. Looking forward to it, this should be fun!
27 Clayton Daley // May 29, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Hi all. They didn’t have a category for “devil’s advocate” so I think I’m listed as a project manager. I’m one of those crazy MBA, business, marketing, economics types who asks those pesky questions like “who really benefits from adopting this and how do we make money?”
I’m currently a VP of Marketing (and really anything else we don’t have a VP for) at 3X Systems (www.3x.com), a provider of data backup solutions for small and midsized businesses.
All of that said, I’m fluent in geek with a computing concentration and minor in CS from Carnegie Mellon and I’ve picked up a pile of random technical skills (photoshop among the more applicable). I’m just good enough to be a royal PITA and proud of it! Then again, when I talk you out of a bad idea *before* you spend 5 years failing, you’ll forgive me

31 Adam Winter // May 30, 2008 at 9:41 am
Hey all, I’ve signed up as a PM, but I’m willing to pitch in wherever I can. I’ve got a background building web-based applications, mostly in Austin, TX. But I’m now in Columbus and am excited to see startupweekend come here! I finish my MBA from Ohio State (majoring in IT Strategy, minoring in Finance) next week (June 7). Also big on database technologies and RIAs (wrote my own async XML-Javascript library back in the web 1.0 era).
32 Jake Saxbe // Jun 2, 2008 at 11:10 am
Yo! My name is Jake Saxbe. Ive spent the last year in Columbus building a new web app called Toobla with a great local programming team (EdgeCase). It will launch as a beta in June. Before toobla, I built the ad-supported music video sites,roxwel.com and yallwire.com in Austin Texas. Ive worked a bit in reality tv - I was a camera operator/’shader’ for Big Brother and handled the cast for Fox show shot in Fiji last year called ‘When Women Rule the World.’ In LA, I worked for a big Hollywood management company headed by Michael Ovitz and an irrationally exuberant web startup called Load.TV. I’m an attorney with a masters in journalism/communication. Im not a programmer per se but I know how to push the limits of java script and ruby apps with the help of smart coders.

37 Jeremy Bock // Jun 8, 2008 at 9:05 am
Hello, everybody. I’m Jeremy, and I’m a ‘Product Support Engineer’ with ShareThis, the little green widget the makes sharing easy. I was on the original development team for the versions that launched back on Nov. 7 and the releases thereafter. We were based in Dublin until recently when operations was moved down to Cincinnati. I’m registered under user experience, but I’m willing to lend a hand wherever. Currently, for ShareThis, I do QA, feature definition, product support, some front end work, and some back end work (PHP, MySQL, JavaSript, jQuery), tech writing and bit of biz dev.
I’m really looking forward to the event to network and learn.
Why doesn’t this blog have a ShareThis button? =)

If anyone wants to get together in Cincinnati (that’s where I’m at now) ahead of time let me know! There is no reason we can’t get the creative juices flowing ahead of time. I have a couple of interesting projects in the works right now.
41 Bryce Thornton // Jun 12, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Howdy. I signed up as an “architect”, but I do a little of everything at my current gig so I am expecting to help with various technical aspects of the project. I just signed up for startup weekend. I’m a Columbus-based journalist/writer. I am a former Cleveland Plain Dealer advertising columnist and reporter and a regular contributor to Advertising Age magazine, as well as other national business publications.
I’ve been inspired of late by a recent insight from
Jeff Jarvis, author of buzzmachine.com and director of interactive journalism at CUNY.
“For the first time since the days of Hearst, McCormick, and Pulitzer, journalists can think and act like entrepreneurs. Thanks to the tools and distribution of online, they can start their own products and businesses today.” I think that’s a powerful take on opportunities out there in the marketplace today.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Not sure what to expect…going to let “it all hang out” it terms of how I can contribute.

Hey everyone, I’m Tom Williams, President of InnoGage, LLC the leader in student-to-student marketing & recruiting (www.innogage.com).
We have one product selling in the market, MyCollegeVid - the only video sharing platform built specifically for colleges (www.mycollegevid.com). We have a blog engine and an IM engine (MyCollegeBlogger and MyCollegeIM) in concept.
I have two goals for the weekend:
1) Move Blogger and IM from concept to design, including IT structure, functionality, design, sales strat, marketing plans…etc.
2) Take a huge step outside the box and see if our technologies can be re-positioned outside the higher ed market. To anyone who has tried to sell to colleges…you feel my pain. SLOW!!!
We are also looking for IT talent…if you’re a developer looking for a proven concept to jump on and get some equity, find me or my partner, Drew Dillon.
